About the Show

Cranbourne Dog ShowThis year will be the 25th anniversary of the Cranbourne Annual Companion Dog Show and over the past 24 years we have raised thousands of pounds for a variety of canine charities, both in the UK and around the world.

When we ran the first show in 1985, we muddled through, not really knowing what we were doing, but had a fun day nevertheless, and managed, somehow, to make a profit, donating all the proceeds to our selected charity.  Since that day we have gone from strength to strength and, over the years, have formed a group of dedicated helpers who make up the Cranbourne Dog Show Committee. Each member of that committee has a specific task, one person organising the licensed raffle, another being responsible for rosettes/trophies, yet another booking judges and stewards etc.  During the course of the year leading up to the show, the committee meets on seven or eight occasions, to discuss and organise what needs to be done.  The result is a show that runs smoothly, rarely are there any complaints, rather many a “thank you” for a great day out for owners and their dogs.

This year the show is due to take place on Sunday, 27 June, at The Memorial Ground, Warfield, Bracknell, Berkshire, RG42 6AE, and we are hoping to make it a bumper event.  Our nominated charities this year are The Diana Brimblecombe Animal Rescue Centre at Twyford, Lowland Search & Rescue Dogs, The Foundation of Abandoned & Mistreated Animals in Malaga, Spain, and the Lagos Animal Protection Society in Portugal, the latter two charities both being run by British ex-pats – all rely on charitable donations and, I’m sure you will agree, all doing valuable work.

There will be something for everyone, whether you prefer showing in breed, competing in obedience, or just want to show off your four-footed friend in one of the many novelty classes, which this year will be judged by Robert Alleyne of “Dog Borstal” fame.  There will also be a fun assault course, a scurry and various stalls, ranging from garden plants and bric-a-brac, to dog accessories, and our very successful Raffle – 1st Prize a Private Box at Ascot Racecourse, for 14 people, on 25 July 2010.  Refreshments are available all day and The Plough & Harrow Pub is situated next to the show ground should you fancy something a little stronger than a cup of tea or glass of lemonade!

All entries are taken on the day, from 10.00am, but if you wish, you can download an entry form and fill it in, (one form per dog), in advance, and bring it with you on the day.

Don’t miss this great day out for all the family and especially your dogs!
